Here we are, back on Alamo St!
We met the seller of this Alamo property at a previous Open House, and boy, did he walk into the perfect Open House! He was hoping for someone to purchase his First Ward lot with two historic Craftsman homes on it. Both of the homes were built by his great-grandfather – J.J Settegast (yes! that Settegast family), and the property had been in his family for 4 generations! It was very important to him that both of these houses would not be torn down!
None of the seller’s family have lived in either of the two homes – they were built as rentals. The tenants that have just moved out (prior to us purchasing the homes) leased both homes for 49 years! We met many family members, and they shared with us their wonderful memories from the nearly 5 decades they lived here!
We have subdivided the lot into two smaller lots – each measuring just under 3290 sf. This Respectfully Restored house will be 1,507 sf – the original sf plus a small addition in the rear – 3 good sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a some green space for plants, pets or parties!
Note : After the replat process, 1507 Alamo (previous address, eastern half of the lot) has now been renamed 1505 Alamo
*1505 Alamo is a 2024 Good Brick Award winner. Presented annually by Preservation Houston, a non-profit organization founded in 1978 to preserve Houston’s local culture of diversity, invention, vitality and can-do spirit by celebrating and revitalizing our historic buildings, neighborhoods, and places.
